Cordyceps vs Reishi: Benefits, Evidence and Safety Compared

posted on November 2, 2026

If you’re choosing between cordyceps and reishi, start with what each one has been studied for. Cordyceps’ human evidence, mostly on exercise, is Mixed or limited. Reishi’s human evidence is also Mixed or limited, and it depends on the condition studied, so the choice comes down to your goal, the form you’ll take and the amounts on the label.

Disclosure: To be upfront, this site is under common ownership with Pilly Labs. We mention it so you can factor it in.

What cordyceps and reishi are

The species guides on the 10-Mushroom Gummies page list reishi as Ganoderma lucidum and cordyceps as Cordyceps militaris. The 10-Mushroom Gummies label lists its blend as fruiting-body 10:1 extracts.

What the human research shows for cordyceps

Cordyceps’ human research centers on exercise. Two PubMed records, PubMed record 27408987 and PubMed record 41280379, cover a randomized controlled trial and a 2025 meta-analysis. Some exercise endpoints have been studied, and the findings vary across products, populations and outcomes. For the study details, read cordyceps and endurance.

What the human research shows for reishi

Reishi’s human research is mostly clinical reviews. The evidence is mixed and indication-specific, and broad retail outcomes are not established. Study preparations, doses and outcomes vary, so a reishi extract in one study may not match the reishi in a product you buy. For a plain-language walk through the human reishi studies, read reishi and relaxation.

What each one is marketed for

Pilly Labs describes cordyceps as “cellular energy support” on the Cordyceps Energy Gummies page, and says that product is “designed for those seeking morning energy and mental clarity support.” The Adaptogen Immunity Drops label says its cordyceps extract is “traditionally used to support vitality and active lifestyles.” For reishi, the Reishi Calm Drops label says reishi mushroom extract “is traditionally used to support relaxation and overall wellness.” These are the maker’s words. Ingredient research is never proof that a finished product works, and that applies to every product in the table below.

How cordyceps and reishi compare in Pilly Labs products

Pilly Labs sells several mushroom products; the table shows what each product page discloses, including where amounts are withheld.

Product Format and serving Cordyceps Reishi
Cordyceps Energy Gummies Gummy, 1 per serving, 30 servings 200 mg cordyceps extract None listed
Adaptogen Immunity Drops Liquid, 1 mL dropper, 30 servings 50 mg cordyceps extract, listed separately Inside a 150 mg five-species complex; reishi’s share not disclosed
Reishi Calm Drops Liquid, 1 mL dropper, 30 servings None listed 150 mg reishi extract, plus reishi inside a 50 mg five-species complex
10-Mushroom Gummies Gummy, 2 per serving, 30 servings Fruiting-body extract inside a 250 mg ten-species blend; amount not disclosed Fruiting-body extract inside the same blend; amount not disclosed
Adaptogen Vitality Gummies Gummy; serving size and count withheld on the page Named; amount withheld Named; amount withheld
Reishi Relax Gummies Gummy; serving size, count and amounts withheld on the page None listed Named; amount withheld

The 10-Mushroom Gummies page says 60 gummies per bottle, while its label panel lists two-gummy servings and 30 servings per bottle. Check the count on the bottle you receive.

What does each label list?

Pilly Labs is owned by the publisher of this page, which is this site.

The Cordyceps Energy Gummies label is a useful example of a single-mushroom label: it lists 200 mg cordyceps extract per one-gummy serving, plus ginkgo leaf extract, GABA, L-glutamine and DMAE at 25 mg each. The Reishi Calm Drops label lists 150 mg reishi extract per 1 mL dropper, plus a 50 mg five-mushroom complex. Products that blend several mushrooms don’t break out each mushroom’s share, so their amounts can’t be compared mushroom by mushroom. Check the format, the amount and the other ingredients against what you want. For stress-focused comparisons, see reishi vs cordyceps vs lion’s mane for stress.

Can you take cordyceps and reishi together?

Several of Pilly’s products overlap. Adaptogen Immunity Drops and Reishi Calm Drops both contain reishi inside their five-species complex, and the 10-Mushroom Gummies carry both mushrooms in one blend. Add up the labeled amounts from every product you take, and ask a clinician before combining them if you take any of the medicines listed in the next section.

Safety and who should check with a clinician first

Pilly Labs’ FDA disclaimer page says cordyceps and reishi “may have mild anticoagulant properties,” that reishi “may lower blood pressure and could potentiate antihypertensive drugs,” and that reishi and other calming mushrooms “may enhance sedative effects.” It also says several mushroom species “may affect blood glucose levels,” and it asks you to consult your healthcare provider before use if you take blood thinners, blood sugar medicines, blood pressure medicines or sedatives.

The Cordyceps Energy Gummies page asks you to consult your healthcare provider before use if you have blood pressure concerns, blood sugar conditions or seizure disorders. Its ginkgo ingredient is covered by the NCCIH ginkgo summary, which says no conclusive evidence supports ginkgo for a health condition and flags bleeding and drug-interaction concerns. The same page says DMAE’s human research is limited.

Pilly Labs says its products are formulated for adults, and that safety during pregnancy and lactation has not been established in clinical trials. The Adaptogen Immunity Drops page says that individuals with mushroom allergies should not use that product. What does it cost, and how do returns work?

The Pilly Labs product pages listed each single bottle at $47.99 USD as of October 8, 2026; prices and bundles change, so check today’s price with Pilly Labs at checkout. The pages list a 30-day return-request window after delivery, with one refund per product per customer; contact info@pillylabs.com to start a return.

Before you order

  • Ask Pilly Labs which cordyceps species is in the Cordyceps Energy Gummies, since the label names only “Cordyceps Mushroom Extract.”
  • Check the bottle count on the 10-Mushroom Gummies, since the page gives 60 gummies per bottle and its label panel lists 30 servings of two gummies.
  • For Adaptogen Vitality Gummies and Reishi Relax Gummies, ask Pilly Labs for the current label, because their pages withhold serving size and ingredient amounts.
  • Confirm today’s price, shipping and tax at checkout.
  • Read the 30-day return terms before you buy.
