Purpose: Give each mushroom one clear home for its name, research, forms, limits, and safety.
Best place to start: Use this page when you know the mushroom name.
Main limit: Evidence stays with the exact species and form that was studied.
Why the species name comes first
A common name is only the start of a research trail. A sound profile also lists the scientific name used by the source. It tells you what part or form was tested.
This matters because two materials may share a name yet be quite different. Food, mycelium, whole powder, and a set extract should not trade research claims. Open our forms guide when a label is not clear.

What each profile tells you
First, the page checks identity. It notes the scientific name and any name dispute. Then it sorts human work from cell and animal studies.
Next, it checks the form. A trial of a set extract may not apply to tea or food. The profile also shows weak data, mixed results, and safety gaps.
Last, it gives you a path forward. You may need an outcome guide, a compound page, or a safety page. The point is to make the next check easy.

These pages explain why a compound is studied. A possible action in a cell is not proof of a benefit in a person. The full chain still needs human research.
How we keep the library honest
We do not give a mushroom one grade for every use. One species may have a small human trial for one result. Another claim may have only cell work.
We also show results that found no clear benefit. A null result helps set the edge of what is known. It should not be hidden.
Safety stays on the same page as possible benefits. This helps readers see the whole record. It also keeps a research signal from turning into advice.
Food, supplements, and studied extracts
Food questions begin with the exact edible species and food form. Supplement questions also need a full label. A study may use a special extract that is not sold in the same form.
We do not move a result across those forms without a good match. We state when the match is weak or not known. This protects the reader from a broad label claim.
What is still missing?
Some species have very little human work. That is a useful answer. It means claims should stay small while better studies are done.
We update profiles when sound new sources change the picture. The review date tells you when the page was last checked.
